'Feed the Birds' at St John's

by isleofman.com 7th November 2009

Feeding the birds may no longer be 'tuppence a bag', but it's still very popular.

And today (Saturday), there's a chance to find out more about just what to give our feathered friends to help get them through the winter.

The Manx Wildlife Trust is holding a 'Feed the Birds Day' outside the Wildlife Shop at Tynwald Mills in St John's.

There will be displays, information sheets, samples of bird food and a chance to make your own pine cone feeder.

Cath Smith from the MWT says many people feed the birds all year round, and by using different foods a variety of species can be attracted (play audio file):

'Feed the Birds Day' runs from 1pm to 4pm.
