'Island paradise' for hen harriers

The Isle of Man's hen harrier population is in good shape, unlike the situation in England.

Only six pairs of the hawks bred successfully in England this year compared with about 55 pairs on the Island, and that figure has been even higher in the past.

There are a number of pressures on the species across the water, including loss of habitat and suspected persecution on grouse moors in the northern counties.

In contrast, Chris Sharpe of Manx Bird Life says our birds have found an Island paradise:
