Assessing abrogation option 'a useful exercise'

A former clerk of Tynwald believes the Isle of Man should look into its constitutional relationship with the British Government, in the wake of the VAT announcement.

In the House of Keys this week, Chief Minister Tony Brown ruled out an analysis of the pros and cons of abrogation, in response to a question from North Douglas MHK Bill Henderson.

But Professor St John Bates says finding out where the Island would stand if it ended the VAT revenue sharing agreement would be a useful exercise for the Manx Government:
