October not a spectacular month for weather

by isleofman.com 4th November 2009

At a time when there seem to be extraordinary weather conditions every other week, last month was surprisingly uneventful.

Weathermen at Ronaldsway say October was mild for the time of year, but otherwise pretty average.

The mean daytime temperature was 14.4 celsius and the warmest day was the 15th when it got up to 16.4 degrees.

Rainfall was 79.3 mm for the month, a little below the long term average, but a fair proportion of it fell on two days, with 17mm on the 6th and 34mm on the 9th, which was the wettest day of the month.

Winds averaged 12 knots, one knot below the long term average, and sunshine totalled 100 hours which is regarded as the norm for the time of year.

There was only one night of frost which was the 7th.
