A union leader in the Isle of Man is welcoming a promise from the chief minister that saving jobs in the public sector is one of his top priorities.
Angela Moffatt is negotiations officer for Prospect, which has more than 1,600 members in the Island, many of them in the civil service.
Last Friday she met Tony Brown to discuss the impact of the huge loss in government revenues, following changes to the VAT sharing agreement with the United Kingdom.
Members are worried they will bear the brunt of 15 per cent cuts ordered across all departments, but Ms Moffatt says she liked what she heard from Mr Brown.
Union leaders are joining a forum, to be chaired by Agriculture Minister Phil Gawne, to work with government on the way forward.
