Eco-award presented to local school

Secondary school pupils in Peel have been showing the rest of Britain how they can improve their environmental credentials.

Students at QE2 won a prestigious award in September, from energy giant EDF, for being the most inspirational eco-school in the British Isles.

The prize was presented at a special assembly yesterday, where EDF's head of education Peter Thorne handed over a trophy and a cheque for ?5,000 to support future environmental initiatives.

Mr Thorne says the competition can benefit everyone:
