DoE scheme 'not dangerous' claim

The Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme is exciting – but not dangerous.

That’s the message from the Isle of Man branch of the scheme after Prince Edward suggested last week that risking death was part of the attraction for young people.

Alison Crowe of the Isle of Man branch of the Duke of Edinburgh awards says the gold expeditions can see groups going off into the wilderness.

But she says although such trips are designed to be challenging, they’re not dangerous.
