Flu-ridden David Knight struggles at World Indoor Enduro opener

by isleofman.com 2nd November 2009

A bad case of flu meant David Knight could only manage one finish out of three at the opening round of the World Indoor Enduro Championship in Sheffield at the weekend.

The Ballaugh star, who was struggling with a bad cough and had breathing difficulties, won his heat comfortably to qualify for the first final.

He took part and was battling for first for a while, eventually coming fourth, but said he had no energy afterwards and decided to cut his losses and drop out.

We'll be hearing from Knighter on Mandate sport tomorrow morning.

The event was dominated by Poland's Taddy Blazusiak, who won all three races.

Returning to Europe just a few days after clinching the 2009 US Endurocross title, Blazusiak made light work of a challenging course to end his night with a 13-point championship advantage over US rider Mike Brown, with Britain’s Graham Jarvis third.
