Island newcomers could be denied social services access

People who’ve only just moved to the Island could find themselves doing without the help of social services.

A consultation exercise finished last month about proposed changes to services provided by the Department of Health and Social Security.

And one of the suggestions in proposed new laws is that people should have to live on the Island for five years before they can access services.

Appearing live on Mandate on Manx radio this morning, Health Minister Eddie Teare said it’s about spending money on Manx residents:
