Big 'apple day' in the north

by isleofman.com 1st November 2009

There's a day of apple-themed entertainment and education in Ramsey today (Sunday).

The Isle of Man has an excellent climate for growing a wide variety of apples and the organisers of the event want to showcase what can be achieved.

There are talks on cider making, recipe swaps, music and the chance to buy manx grown apple trees.

Kids will be right at home with the apple bobbing stalls, face painting and the opportunity to learn and sing apple themed songs.

Organiser Andrew Millichap says they hope to show people the Island has the capability of being self-sufficient, in apples at least (play audio file):

Apple Day is happening St Paul's Hall, for three hours from 2pm.

Anyone with home-grown apples is invited to take them along to be pressed, but they are no use if they are frozen.
