Encouraging signs at local authority briefing

The 'VAT bombshell' could be an opportunity for the Isle of Man to consolidate local authority services and create a slimmer and more effective system.

That's the view of DoLGE Minister John Shimmin who last night spoke to representatives of all the Island's 24 local authorities in a meeting at Ballakermeen High School.

He says he was encouraged by the turnout and attitude of those who attended and believes authority members may now be more inclined to work together to cut costs:
