Village residents question need for road scheme

Residents in Ballasalla say they don’t understand why the Department of Transport is resurfacing a section of road, stretching to almost the entire length of the village.

The work is being carried out on Douglas Road, between the Clagh Vane Estate and the Whitestone, with three sets of temporary lights controlling traffic.

Eddie Power of the Ballasalla and District Residents Association says it's causing long tailbacks and inconvenience for commuters.

And he says many in the village are questioning whether the work is really necessary:
