Dolphins gather in Douglas Bay

Douglas residents have had a view of one of the largest pods of bottlenose dolphins seen in Manx waters this year.

Up to 100 of them were spotted in the sea off the lighthouse at 11.30am yesterday, before they moved into the bay itself.

Tom Felce, a researcher with Manx Whale and Dolphin Watch, says that large groups can congregate off the Island's coasts, although it's unusual to see so many.

He says winter is the best time to spot the species:
