The House of Keys is sitting today, with the proposed Peel sewage works set to dominate question time.

In total, ministers will face six questions for oral answer and one for written reply, a surprisingly small number for the first sitting of the new legislative year.

It's a busy day for legislation, with the possibility of three new bills, as well as two for formal first reading and two more down for consideration of clauses.

On top of that, the chief minister will ask for standing orders to be suspended so the house can miss a sitting next May.

Onchan MHK and Liberal Vannin party leader Peter Karran has tabled five of the six questions for oral answer.

He will quiz Transport Minister David Anderson and DTI Minister David Cretney about the planned sewage works in Peel.

The only question for written reply is from Michael MHK David Cannan, who wants to know how much money in total the Manx Government has in the bank.

There will also be discussion about how the chief minister is elected, with South Douglas MHK Bill Malarkey asking permission to introduce a bill which would exclude MLCs from the election process.
