Isle of Man Samaritans are sharing their 30th anniversary celebrations with Ramsey Town Commissioners.
To commemorate 30 years of supporting the people of the Isle of Man, the Samaritans have been donating benches to a number of locations around the Island.
In Ramsey a bench has been located at the site of the former Cusha building on the corner of East Street and Parliament Street, and sponsored by AFD Software Ltd.
Ramsey Town Commissioners’ chairman Sylvia Beattie said, "The Commissioners and the people of Ramsey are honoured to be included in the Samaritans’ 30th anniversary celebrations.
"The Samaritans provide an invaluable service 24 hours a day 365 days a year and this gesture of donating benches for the benefit of local communities typifies the charity’s generosity of spirit.
"It is therefore especially fitting that Ramsey’s bench should be located on a site in the heart of town that since its transformation into a public green space is enjoyed daily by the community at large."
Isle of Man Samaritans receive around 26,000 calls a year, handled by a team of approximately 80 volunteers.
"In addition to Ramsey, the charity has donated benches to Castletown, Onchan, Peel, the Wildlife Park and Isle of Man Prison.
Other Isle of Man Samaritans’ 30th anniversary events have included a Cubs and Beavers treasure hunt, sponsored stock car racing at Onchan Stadium and participation in the Viking longboat races.
