Report points to successes in fight against drugs

Progress is being made in tackling the drink and drug problems on the Island, but there's still plenty of work to be done.

That's the verdict of the Drug and Alcohol Strategy's annual report.

Greater interaction with the community and more focus on alcohol and young people are highlighted, as the strategy's success stories over the year covered by the study.

Political member of the Department of Home Affairs with responsibility for the initiative Bill Malarkey, MHK, accepts the problems will never be completely eradicated.

However, he is stressing big improvements are being made, which sometimes go unnoticed:
