Webster the hero for Valkyrs

by isleofman.com 24th October 2009

New signing Ollie Webster was the hero as Valkyrs A won the big match in the men’s Premier Division.

They defeated Bacchas A with Webster striking the only goal of the game.

The other of the three title contenders, Vikings A, have now moved up to second after thrashing Valkyrs B 8-0.

Hat-tricks from Connor Byrne and Gerry Quinn led the way with Andy Harding and Simon Foster netting the others.

A double from Paul Kelly and one from Richard McAleer fired Castletown up to third with a 3-1 success over Vikings B, for whom Richard Gelder scored.

At the other end of the table, Bacchas B and Harlequins drew 1-1.

After Tony Mansell had fired the Quins’ in front, Bacchas equalised in the second period as their first point of the season lifted them off the bottom.

Kim Carney was the star of the show yet again as reigning champions Vikings A cruised on.

She hit five in an 8-0 thrashing of Ramsey A.

Karen Faragher (two) and Kirsty Hunt grabbed the others.

Ramsey are now bottom after Castletown got their first points on the board with a fine 4-1 win over Bacchas A.

Elaine Wiseman, Kerry Kelly, Candice Cairns and Siobhan Clucas were on target for Town with Niamh Goddard scoring the Bacchas’ consolation.
