A Ramsey man who admitted stealing almost ?18,000 from a travel agent has been bailed by the high bailiff to appear for sentence on November 17.

Twenty-seven-year-old Matthew Paul Burgess was warned by Michael Moyle custody was likely.

The prosecution said Burgess stole the money while he worked at the travel company, Mann-Link Travel, in Douglas.

The offence came to light when a customer queried his bank statements with the firm.

Burgess was arrested and made a full and frank confession and told the police he had no money left and no means to pay back what he had stolen.
