Man awaits sentence for role in brawl

by isleofman.com 22nd October 2009

A 19-year-old man who was involved in a mass brawl in a Ramsey pub has had his sentencing adjourned for reports.

Josh Arthur Corlett, of High View Road in Douglas, admitted affray.

The prosecution said Corlett was in a group of around 20 people who went into the Schooner Bar at the Mitre on the evening of January 31.

A fight broke out and Corlett was seen to punch a man and kick him in the head as he lay on the floor, leaving him needing stiches.

Witnesses to the brawl described it as a 'free for all', with punches and kicks flying in every direction.

Corlett was told by High Bailiff Michael Moyle custody was a possibility but he might avoid prison because of his early guilty plea.

He was bailed until November 17.
