Manx2.com recently checked in its 250,000th passenger and to celebrate, donated a generous sum of money to Rebecca House Children's Hospice.
First of all, a campaign was launched to find the landmark passenger - revealed to be Jamie Popple, who recently travelled on the Isle of Man to Newcastle route.
Jamie, alongside airline Chairman Noel Hayes and Senior Manager Judith Musgrave, presented PR and Fundraising Manager of Rebecca House Children’s Hospice, Mary Doyle, with a cheque for ?250.
A commemorative cheque now sits proudly on the wall of Rebecca House to mark Manx2.com’s donation.
The children’s hospice, which relies entirely on public donations, is the airline’s charity of the year for 2009.
Manx2.com began life on 15th July 2006 in a one-room office in the main Isle of Man Airport building, operating on two routes –
Belfast International and Blackpool International.
Three years later, it employs 60 staff, operates more than 200 flights per week, and offers routes to Belfast City, Gloucester (M5), Jersey, Nottingham East Midlands and Newcastle.
In July 2009, the airline demonstrated its commitment to the Isle of Man by opening new headquarters, at Ronaldsway Airport, inside a state of the art converted hangar, which features purpose-built offices and an on-Island maintenance facility.
Noel Hayes Praises Manx Community
Chairman Noel Hayes believes that organisations have a responsibility to support the community and is delighted to be able to give something back to the Island: "It is thrilling to see just how successful Manx2.com has become in the last three years and identifying our
250,000th passenger is indicative of this.
"Globally, the airline industry is going through a tough period but I am very proud to say that a Manx company is weathering the storm so well.
"I would suggest that the reason for our success is Manx2.com’s commitment to providing excellent levels of customer service, low fares
and frequent flights, but this has only been possible with the backing of the community of the Isle of Man.
"As such we are dedicated to giving back to the people that have helped to create the success of Manx2.com and I hope that we will continue to flourish as we look to reach our ‘half a million’ passenger landmark in the coming years."
Mary Doyle, PR and Marketing Manager of Hospice Isle of Man, thanked Manx2.com for its donation: "Hospice Isle of Man’s children’s unit, Rebecca House supports young people and their families.
"Donations such as these are very important in ensuring the continued success and running of the facility which touches so many Island families year on year. I would like to thank Manx2.com for its generosity."
