The Speaker of the House of Keys is blaming Jersey for the termination by the United Kingdom of the long running Reciprocal Health Agreement with the Isle of Man.
Steve Rodan, a former Isle of Man health minister, suggested the DHSS had accepted the UK's decision as a 'fait accompli' and moved to adjourn a Tynwald debate on the subject until next February.
He claimed the problem arose after Jersey became 'greedy' and tried to cheat the system (play audio file):
The debate on changes to the agreement continued, after Mr Rodan's motion was defeated.
The Isle of Man's agreement with the United Kingdom is due to end next April, after which non-emergency healthcare in the UK will no longer be free.
