Back to the drawing board!

by isleofman.com 21st October 2009

Plans for a multi-million pound leisure complex on the former Summerland site appear to be dead in the water.

Yesterday it was announced The Wave, a proposed ?30 million facility incorporating a multiplex cinema, restaurant, bars and casino, had been dropped.

Talks between the Manx government and the Sefton Group, which was to lease the site, broke down at a crucial stage.

A rival bid is in place, but Tourism and Leisure Minister Martyn Quayle says that wasn't a factor in the Sefton negotiations coming to an end, and it’s now back to the drawing board (play audio file):

The Sefton Group is due to make an announcement about future plans after board meeting tomorrow.
