Island punished for its success - Moffatt

Moves by the United Kingdom government to claw back VAT from the Isle of Man have been branded 'disgraceful' by Prospect's local negotiating officer.

Angela Moffatt says the Island is being punished for being a financial success.

She says the news will be greeted with fear, concern and anger from her union's members, many of whom are public sector workers.

Ms Moffatt says they were already facing a zero per cent pay rise and uncertainty over their pensions, and must now add the possibility of redundancies to that list of woes.

She says now more than ever there's a need for the government to be open with the unions:
