The Department of Tourism and Leisure has confirmed that Bryan Adams will play an acoustic show at the Villa Marina on Wednesday 20th January, 2010.

The star, whose hits include 'Summer of '69', 'Run to You' and 'Everything I Do (I Do It For You'), will visit the Island as part of his 'Very Special Solo Performance Tour', courtesy of promoter Live Nation.

Adams' show will include selections from his eleventh studio album, appropriately titled '11'.

The Grammy-winning singer-songwriter has sold more than 65 million albums worldwide, garnered 21 top ten hits, and earned nominations for three Academy Awards and five Golden Globes.

Adams has long worked tirelessly for a wide variety of charitable causes: as well as playing at Live Aid,  Live 8 and the Concert for Freedom for Nelson Mandela, his performances have supported Greenpeace, Amnesty International, and many more humanitarian and environmental causes.

Through his own foundation, he has also helped to build schools in areas of Southeast Asia which were devastated by the tsunami in 2004.

In the last few years, Bryan Adams has distinguished himself as a photographer of some repute, specialising in portraits of personalities from the film, music, and fashion industries; his most recent exhibit, 'Modern Muses', has been displayed at London's National Portrait Gallery.

Amidst all this, he remains one of the most enduring rock performers and songwriters of the last few decades, famed for his outstanding live performances.

Martyn Quayle MHK, Minister for Tourism and Leisure, said, "I am absolutely delighted to welcome a world class artist such as Bryan Adams to the Villa Marina.

"The venue continues to attract major artists in music, comedy and theatre, and we strive to ensure that everyone living in the Isle of Man has access to the best possible quality of entertainment."
