DHSS responds to MEDs criticisms

A series of criticisms about facilities at the Island's out of hours GP service are being countered by the DHSS.

The Manx Emergency Doctor Service, or MEDS, has been moved from its home, next to A and E at Noble's Hospital, to make room for patients being admitted with swine flu.

Some patients say the new temporary base, at the Central Community Health Centre in Westmoreland Road, has been difficult to locate, with no signs visible from the road.

There's also been criticism over facilities in the consulting rooms and poor patient confidentiality.

But Director of Strategy and Performance at the DHSS Norman McGregor Edwards says the new arrangement is working well:
