Councillor faces action over her home

by isleofman.com 19th October 2009

Douglas Borough Council is to take legal action against one of its own, over the state of a rundown house in the Island's capital.

Murrays Ward councillor Helen Callow is facing action over her home in Selborne Drive, as the local authority cracks down on dilapidated buildings.

Mrs Callow sits on the Public Health and Housing Committee, and Councillor Ritchie McNicholl says talks have been held over the property for more than a year.

He says the decision to take action shows the council won't play favourites when it comes to run-down buildings (play audio file):

Manx Radio has tried to contact Mrs Callow for a response but so far without success.
