Residents voice 'Sewage City' fears

Peel commissioners will debate plans for a new sewage works on Tuesday night, but the public won't be able to join in.

Fliers declaring 'Sunset in Sewage City', and calling for people to attend the regular board meeting, have appeared all over the town in recent days.

The proposal is for an open air treatment works behind the power station site, which some fear would lead to air pollution and bad odours in the town.

Board chairman Rodger Gimbert recognises there is opposition to the scheme, but says commissioners' meetings are not public forums:
