Honours even in match of the day

by isleofman.com 17th October 2009

Vikings fought back as the big match in the men’s Premier League ended all square on Saturday.

Neil Jacobs and Ollie Webster had put Valkyrs A on course for victory before a second half double from Conor Byrne earned Vikings a point.

That was possibly the result reigning champions Bacchas A wanted as they produced a super second half show to demolish Valkyrs B.

After just one goal in the first half, Bacchas turned on the style and romped to a 10-0 success.

Ian Perry and Richard Gelder were the marksmen as Vikings B defeated Bacchas B, who replied through Ali Slack, while doubles from Paul Kelly and Kieron Collister helped Castletown A to a 7-2 victory over Harlequins.

Ian Wrigley, Dan Stewart and Richard McAleer grabbed the others with Les Callow scoring twice for Harlequins.

It’s advantage Vikings A in the women’s Premier League as the reigning champions saw off Bacchas A in a seven goal thriller.

A Kim Carney hat-trick and a Kat Gatherer goal sealed a 4-3 success.

Niamh Goddard, Cat Cox and Louise Corkill had kept Bacchas in the hunt.

It was one-way traffic for Valkyrs A as they saw off Ramsey A 5-0, courtesy of strikes from Emma Faulkner (two), Andrea Kneen, Ashley Hall and Hannah Heselton.
