Geordies back to winning ways

by isleofman.com 17th October 2009

Reigning champions St George’s bounced back to form with a 4-1 victory over Corinthians on Saturday.

The Geordies ended a disappointing run by returning to winning ways in the Sure Mobile Premier League, courtesy of goals from Chris Bass junior, Chris Melly, Danny McMahon and James McStay.

Richard Mulhearn scored the consolation for the visitors.

Peel remain clear at the top after overcoming a battling showing from newly promoted Castletown.
A Daniel Bell header and a late Johnny Myers penalty sealed a 2-0 home win.

Rushen remain on their coattails after a goal in each half, from Aaron Hawley and a Josh Kelly penalty, secured a hard fought victory by the same scoreline at the other newly promoted side, St John’s.

St Mary’s hit Ramsey for seven to stay second.

Yet again Steven Priestnal was the star of the show with four goals.

Steven Glover, Jamie Skillen and Frank Jones netted the others with Steven Cleator notching the Ramsey consolation.

Laxey remain fourth after seeing off lowly Union Mills.

Michael Fernandes (two), Oliver Theobold and Johnny Callow were on target for the Miners with James Cannell scoring for the Millers, who remain pointless.

A Ciaran McNulty hat-trick all but ended Old Boys’ Railway Cup hopes.

They won 3-1 against the FA Cup holders at Tromode with McNulty the star, after Gary Quirk had given Old Boys the lead.
