Peel protest generates debate

by isleofman.com 14th October 2009

Around 30 people attended a protest outside Peel Town Hall yesterday evening (Tuesday).

They were voicing concern over the proposed open sewage plant just outside the town.

There's been opposition in Peel to the Department of Transport's plan which is the latest phase of the IRIS scheme.

Those demonstrating believe there has been no proper consultation with the town.

A flyer has also been circulated around certain areas of Peel asking people who object to plans to contact the chairman of Peel Commissioners in writing or by phone.

However, it's been pointed out by the town clerk of Peel that the wording of the flyer had not been done with the commissioners' approval.
