Jury considers verdicts in Baines trial

by isleofman.com 12th October 2009

The trial of Isle of Man millionaire Trevor Baines resumes today (Monday) at 11am after the jury were dismissed on Friday for the weekend.

The jury initially retired last Thursday to consider its verdicts after hearing three weeks of evidence.

On Friday, the court heard that the jury had requested clarification of a point relating to one of the charges. The court will hear Acting Deemster Birkett's guidance this morning before the jury once again retires to deliberate.

Sixty-nine year-old Mr Baines, of Africa House in Woodbourne Road in Douglas, denies a count of money laundering.

Both he and 50 year-old Mrs Baines deny a further charge of false accounting.
