Four teenagers will be discharged from Noble’s Hospital this afternoon (Sunday) after sustaining injuries in a serious accident in the west of the Island yesterday morning.
An 18 year-old Douglas man and his three passengers were detained overnight after a collision on the Poortown Road in St. John’s, about 200 metres from Ballig Bridge.
It led to the road being closed for five hours and two of the men had to be removed from the car by emergency services with fire crews using hydraulic rams and cutting gear to remove the roof.
The driver and passengers in the other car were uninjured.
Investigations are continuing this morning (Sunday) into the cause of the accident and staff from the roads policing unit carried out a second survey at the scene earlier.
Police are appealing for any witnesses to contact them on 631212 or through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
