Three in hospital after accident

by isleofman.com 10th October 2009

Three teenagers are in Nobles’ Hospital tonight (Saturday) after a serious accident which led to a road in the west being closed for five hours.

The collision occurred at around 10.40am on the Poortown Road in St. John’s, about 200 metres from Ballig Bridge.

It involved a silver Hyundai people carrier driven by a 45 year-old man from the UK with a woman and child as passengers and a silver Citroen Saxo driven by an 18 year-old man from Douglas who had three male teenagers as passengers.

Two of the men had to be removed from the car by emergency services with fire crews using hydraulic rams and cutting gear to remove the vehicle roof.

Three of the occupants have been detained in hospital. The other was assessed.

The occupants of the Hyundai were uninjured.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to contact them on 631212 or through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
