Councillors to tour their wards

Ward visits are being reintroduced in Douglas next month, after an absence of ten years.

The idea is for all councillors to make twice-yearly visits to the areas they represent, exchanging notes and addressing any areas of concern.

There are six wards with three councillors in each, and they will be touring their respective areas in a mini-bus with officials from the council and the Department of Local Government, and the police officer who is based in the town hall.

Chairman of the Public Works Committee Ritchie McNicholl says infrastructure, the environment and anti-social behaviour are the type of things which could be discussed:
