Back Door Slam Exclusive: Watch Live Online

by isleofman.com 9th October 2009

Anyone unable to attend Back Door Slam's sell-out show at the Gaiety Theatre on Monday 12th October can take heart: thanks to a unique collaboration between leading media and internet technology providers, fans will be able to watch the whole concert online - as it happens.

The live stream, which will be shown exclusively here at isleofman.com, is the result of a combined initiative between the the Island's community web portal, multimedia company DAM Productions and internet service providers Wi-Manx.

Visitors to isleofman.com's new Video Room - www.isleofman.com/video - can already warm up for the live show by watching a short feature on the band, while anyone wanting to check out the band's Gaiety performance at a later date will be able to do so simply by visiting the archive.

The return of local guitar hero Davy Knowles promises to be an electrifying event.

As well as marking the European launch of the band's forthcoming Peter Frampton-produced CD 'Coming Up For Air', it will be the first gig Davy has played on home turf since a triumphant summer tour of the States, which has won the group both critical acclaim and legions of new fans.

The show, which has been organised by Triskel Promotions in association with Running Media Group, will be the band's last European date before they head to Australia for the One Movement for Music Festival.

Gavin Smith, General Manager of isleofman.com, explains, "This is a great opportunity to support home-grown talent and demonstrate how isleofman.com and our partners can deliver high quality, locally relevant video to our 400,000 unique users around the world.

"The fact that the concert is being filmed, hosted, streamed and delivered entirely by local providers just goes to show the calibre of specialist expertise we have on the Isle of Man.

"Sites like You Tube and iPlayer, together with today's broadband availability, are making online video an expectation, not a novelty.

"Recent industry research by Hitwise shows demand for online video has increased more than 40% in the last 12 months and we are looking forward to providing more high quality video content at isleofman.com over the coming months."

Gary Shilling, Business Sales Consultant of Wi-Manx Limited, adds, “Wi-Manx are delighted that our media streaming services are being used at such a high profile concert.

"We look forward to working with isleofman.com in the future to bring other exciting events to the home, through this fantastic technology.”
