The Manx government has been getting expert advice on how best to preserve the Island's marine habitats, while also catering for the needs of its people and maritime industries.
Jon Day of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority gave a talk at Peel Centenery Centre on Sunday night, and met government officials the next day.
The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry is looking to create marine nature reserves in the waters around the Island.
Mr Day says the most important thing he and his colleagues have learned in the 30 year life of the authority is while their aims are environmentally-driven, they must also be sympathetic to the needs of all interest groups (play audio file):
