Parish Walkers Help Running of Youth Cafe

by isleofman.com 6th October 2009

It might have left them with a few blisters and aching limbs, but the lengths that Kara Kneale, Samantha Hughes and Yvonne Holmes went to during the Parish Walk were well worth it in the end.

The trio collected ?1000 in sponsorship for the Isle of Man Children’s Centre, and the donation was enthusiastically received by staff and youngsters during the official presentation ceremony.

The money raised will help towards the running costs of no fewer than ten Friday evening Youth Cafes at the Philip Christian Centre, Peel which regularly provides activities for up to 200 young people in the local area.

"I’d like to thank everyone who sponsored Kara, Samantha and Yvonne because the Youth Cafe is a very popular part of the local scene in Peel and we want to ensure it keeps going," said IOMCC Fundraising Coordinator, Michelle O’Malley.

As a charity organisation the IOMCC relies heavily on donations to fund its wide range of projects throughout the year.

Michelle added, "Getting involved in events like the Parish Walk can be fun and rewarding as these three ladies have shown and we are always happy to advise and support people in their fundraising activities. Even with things like preparing sponsorship forms."
