Meanwhile in the Julie Brew Memorial Walk, held on the same route, Michael George triumphed to add the title to his End to End success a fortnight ago.

The Douglas hotelier finished the 10km event in 1:23.44, just over eight minutes ahead of Welly Welly Wanderers.com team mate Chris Cale.

Vinny Lynch was another to replicate his End to End finishing position, coming third.

There was a close finish for the ladies as Marie Jackson (seventh overall) just edged Janice Quirk (eighth) by three seconds to take the victory.

Sally Walker was third (tenth overall).

Both events saw good turnouts, with 62 runners and 142 walkers completing the course.
