MHKs work to 'dispel myths' at party conferences

Sending Manx politicians to English political party conferences is a valuable way of getting the Island's message across.

That's according to Tourism and Leisure Minister Martyn Quayle, who attended the Liberal Democrat event, where senior figures he spoke to included Lib Dem leader Nick Clegg, Vince Cable, MP, and Lord Wallace.

The latter two have been critical of the 'offshores' in the last few months, with Lord Wallace questioning the autonomy of the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands.

Mr Quayle says meeting politicians in person is a good way of dispelling some of the myths and half-truths they hear about the Island (play audio file):
