Nomads win on all fronts in Shimmin Wilson Shield

by isleofman.com 3rd October 2009

It was a good day for Southern Nomads as both their teams won in the Shimmin Wilson Manx Shield.

The big game of the day was at Glencrutchery Road where Shield holders Southern Nomads beat Vagabonds B 21-11.

Vagas led early on via two Tic Connolly penalties but Nomads hit back with tries from Danny Williams and Harry Brereton giving them a 13-6 half-time lead.

A try from Andy Pease early in the second half gave Vagas some hope but Nomads closed the game out with Brereton’s second try and a Danny Williams penalty.

Emerging Nomads recorded their first ever Shield win over Ramsey B, coming out 12-0 winners at King Williams College.

Damian Brand’s try put Nomads ahead and Furo Davies sealed the game with a try converted by Dave Edge.

Douglas B kept up the pressure on Nomads at the top of the table with a 19-0 win away at improving Castletown.

Jon Hill picked up two tries for Douglas, James Stamp weighed in with one and there were conversions for Hill and Johnny Howarth.
