Vikings and champions share spoils

by isleofman.com 3rd October 2009

The top game finished all square in the men’s hockey Premier Division on Saturday.

Reigning champions Bacchas A and Vikings A shared a 2-2 draw.

Karl Moore fired the champions in front before a brace from Juan Corlett turned the match in the favour of Vikings.

Moore equalised before the break and with no further goals in the second half, the sides had to settle for a point apiece.

Rivals Valkyrs A crushed Bacchas B 9-0.

A four goal haul from Gareth Morris, an Ollie Webster hat-trick and one each from Greg Miller and Chris Caldwell ensured a rout.

Paul Kelly (two), Richard McAleer and Kieran Collister were the scorers as Castletown A had too much for Valkyrs B in a 4-0 success, while Harlequins A and Vikings B drew 3-3.

Pete Godwin hit two of Quins’ goals with Ken Carney, Ian Perry and Christian Davies finding the net for Vikings B.

First half goals from Louise Corkill and Sharon Pope fired Bacchas A to a 2-0 win over Valkyrs A in the women’s Premier Division, while a Kirsty Hunt double and goals from Kim Carney, Aalish Kerford and Danni Coombs sealed a 5-1 win for reigning champions Vikings A over Castletown.
