Improvement in weather during September

by isleofman.com 3rd October 2009

After an extremely wet August, September 2009 proved to be sunnier and drier than usual with a total of 155 hours of sunshine.

The warmest day was the 12th when the mercury rose to 19.5 Celsius, but the average temperature of 16 degrees was about normal for the time of year.

It wasn't all sunshine though, as the second and third of the month saw 37 millimetres of rain in 24 hours, which led to some localised flooding.

Total rainfall in September was 48 millimetres, significantly down on the long-term average of just under 78.

A hundred and nineteen millimetres of rain fell at Ronaldsway during August, nearly double the long-term average.
