Depleted classes as swine flu spreads

The director of public health says it has become impossible to give any accurate figures for the number of people in the Isle of Man suffering from swine flu.

Response to the virus has moved from the containment to the treatment phase and suspected cases are no longer being tested, but Dr Parameswaran Kishore has confirmed swine flu is spreading, with children under the age of 15 worst-hit.

Most schools around the Island have reported depleted classes, with 200 pupils absent from Ballakermeen High School on Wednesday.

Headteacher Adrienne Burnett says although swine flu hasn't broken out yet, no one knows how many children are ill with norovirus:
