by isleofman.com 30th September 2009

A man and a woman were taken to Noble's Hospital with serious injuries after a road accident in St Mark's yesterday

According to the Fire and Rescue Service, their vehicle careered down a steep grass embankment, before coming to rest in a stream, about 25 metres below the road.

Both occupants received treatment from paramedics while fire officers used hydraulic cutting equipment to release them from the vehicle.

They were carried up to the road by fire crews to two waiting ambulances.

No information has been released about their injuries.

The accident happened on the Braaid to St Mark's Road, near Ballahowin Farm, at about 3.30pm on Tuesday, and a section of the route was closed for about three hours while the emergency services dealt with the incident.

Police would like to speak to anybody who was in the area at the time, particularly if they saw a yellow hatchback type vehicle.

The number for Police Headquarters is 631212.
