Parents of teenage girls in the Isle of Man are being urged not to withdraw consent for the vaccine to prevent cervical cancer, following the death of a 14-year-old in Coventry shortly after she was given the jab.
At this stage it's not known whether she suffered a rare and extreme reaction to the Ceravix vaccine, but an urgent investigation has been launched to establish whether there is a link.
In the meantime, all stocks of the HPV vaccine have been quarantined.
Public health officials in the Island have received many calls from worried parents of girls in the 12-18 age group, who have already signed consent forms for their daughters to be given the jab.
A series of information sessions for children and their parents has been put on hold, until the results of the investigation into the death are known.
