HPV plans put on hold

by isleofman.com 29th September 2009

Plans to offer the anti-cervical cancer vaccine to teenage girls in the Isle of Man have been out on hold after the death of a 14 year old girl in Coventry, just hours after she was given the vaccine.

The HPV vaccination programme, aimed at girls between the ages of 12 and 18, was about to begin with a series of information sessions for pupils and their parents.

A statement from the Island's Public Health Department says these meetings are being delayed until the results of the investigation in the young girl's death are known.
