by isleofman.com 28th September 2009

Everyone has a responsibility to protect children from 'internet dangers'.

That's the message being driven home after 41-year-old Douglas man John James McCurrie was jailed for 17 months for three admitted offences of sexually grooming a child, in the first case of its kind in the Isle of Man.

Detective Sergeant Cathryn Bradley, from the Public Protection Unit, says everyone in the community has a role to play in keeping children safe (play audio file):

McCurrie was also placed on the Sexual Offenders Register for five years.
