The top prize in the photography competition in the 2009 Manx Heritage Flower Festival went to Peter Tucker, for a display, described by the Department of Tourism and Leisure as 'a sensitive mix of Viking crosses and glorious greenery in Kirk Andreas'.
The competition attracted a record number of entries, and the runner up was Sue Jones who 'cleverly captured a simply beautiful window arrangement at Trinity United Reformed Church in Ramsey'.
Among the highly commended pictures was one by five-year-old Thomas Young, the youngest ever entrant in the competition.
He submitted a 'beautifully composed picture, complete with a splendid rainbow, which he took in the Promenade Methodist Church in Douglas'.
The DTL is the main sponsor for the festival and it will be working with the Flower Festival Task Force and all the other supporters for next year's 20th anniversary event, which has the theme 'Rejoice'.
The winning photographs in this year's competition can be viewed at manxflowerfestival.org, the Manx Heritage Flower Festival's website.
