Library Will Showcase Local Talent on Poetry Day

by isleofman.com 28th September 2009

Anyone with a love of poetry in its many forms may want to head for the Henry Bloom Noble Library (Victoria Street, Douglas) on Thursday 8th October to help celebrate National Poetry Day.

To mark the occasion, the Library is hosting an evening of readings by three friends united by their love of poetry - Carol Little, Pam Evans and John Kennaugh.

Carol will be reciting works by T. E. Brown, Seamus Heaney and another local talent, the late Ronnie Fell.

John, who is Captain of the Parish of German, will give one of his famed T. E. Brown recitals, while Pam has promised to read some of her humorous, topical poems.

There'll also be an opportunity to share one of your own personal favourites with the audience; simply bring along a poem to the gathering and it will be read by one of the group.

The evening starts at 7.30pm and is expected to finish by 9.30pm.

Tickets are free but must be collected in advance from the ground floor counter at the library.

Complimentary refreshments will be provided by sponsors CMI.
