Kennaugh dedicates ride to Bellis

Cyclist Peter Kennaugh has dedicated his fourth-place finish in the under-23 men's road race at the road cycling World Championships on Saturday to fellow Manxman Jonny Bellis.

The 20-year-old produced a gutsy, battling performance to deliver what the British media has described as the "ride of the week" by a Team GB competitor.

According to the Daily Telegraph, "Kennaugh has ability right across the board — track, road, climbing, time trialling and sprints — and is a British rider to get excited about."

He showed great resilience on the final lap, firstly catching the small bunch and then breaking away over the final climb of the day.

But he couldn't catch French winner, Romain Sicard, or Carlos Alberto Betancur and third-placed Egor Silin.

Speaking to the BBC's Hazel Irvine afterwards, Kennaugh said he had mixed feelings about the race:
